I’m also one of those who haven’t heard about Ambrose Bierce. I let Alexa read the first A words. I’m hooked. The idiosyncrasies of mankind, presented in an amusing, “gleefully misanthropic glossary Bierce started compiling in 1880″ — this is what The Devil’s Dictionary is all about.

It was given by my childhood friend Edna de la Cruz Kidd who is happily settled in England.
