My brush with Ciaté Velvet Manicure was incidental. Good friend Ann and I ran across each other at The Nail Lounge. She offered to let me try out her baon. Very blau, so why hold back? Wrapping over a layer of loose minuscule fibers can be a messy job, but the kit includes a brush, so you can tidy up the excess later and put back in the shaker ‘coz most likely, the base color runs out last.
Created by celebrity nail technician Charlotte Knight, Ciaté pioneered the caviar manicure, first seen in catwalks and top fashion zines. Early this year, the company has been fighting for the exclusive use of “caviar” manicure, protecting their intellectual property right.
I have mixed feelings about the longevity. After one whole week, the pedi is fine while the mani is less presentable. But I’ve been typing a lot lately. The finish is striking, like real fabric, so expect velvet manicure to reach high street.
In the Philippines, London-based Ciaté is distributed by Ciaté Philippines Check them out here.
